PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE

Have you ever wanted something so bad, like right now?!

You have all these hopes and dreams that make you so excited. You are laser-focused on how wonderful it’s all going to work out. Until it doesn’t....yet.

Reality slaps you in the face with rejection. You don’t get that dream job, you struggle to fill your chair with clients, you miss out on that big sale, or you fail that test.

It might not seem like I’ve experienced those disappointments, but I have. Big time! I didn’t make the cut for doing hair in NYC for Fashion Week because God had the plan to open the Appleton Salon Elan the month Fashion Week took place. I tried out in June, and we started demoing the space the month fashion week started. There is NO WAY I could’ve done both.

I wanted to buy 2 other salons before Salon Elan, and both weren’t the right timing. I was kindly guided past those. I failed my practical in hair school for round brush blow-drying. That showed me how much shame I put on myself to be perfect and taught me to refine my skill on round brushing. (Recovering perfectionist over here)

These are only a few of the disappointing, frustrating moments I’ve gone through so far. I say “so far” because although in the moment I hate the pain disappointment brings, I know I will experience it again. The point is for every struggle has come reward.

PATIENCE and PERSEVERANCE, my friend, is the key. Don’t give up on your dreams; you just might have to go through the window, not the front door to get there. If the timing isn’t right, put it in your back pocket for later. You may circle back around later...
