New Graduate
You've done your time, learned all you can within the walls of your school...now what? It's time to choose your next step in life and your career. Making the decision where you work when coming out of school is so important. So important that the pressure can be overwhelming. I think they call that "analysis paralysis"….
Once you choose a salon, now the pressure is on! It's time to prove yourself. Can you meet all their expectations? Will you be killing yourself to show your peers you're good enough, or will you cripple with shame when you mess up? Making decisions is hard, there's no doubt about that! We do everything based on how it makes us feel. Good or bad, we make choices that cause a ripple effect. I've been there, I get it, and I'm still working through what feels right or wrong.
I'm here to tell you all those feelings are real and show up for us all in different ways. You don't have to experience all that trauma with these helpful guidelines.
*Making choices is a gift! God gave us the free will to make choices, but man, oh man, it's hard!!! Gain education and do the research...
Here are questions to ask during an interview:
What are your salon values?
Do those values line up with your values OR your goals for your future?
What is your salon training program?
Do they have an outline for training? Color theory? Haircutting all different lengths and textures? Business development? Color techniques? Customer service.
Do you offer continuing education? Will you have the resources to attend continuing education?
What is the pay scale? (Money is an energy exchange. Forward progress warrants compensation. You can't expect to get a raise without working for it.)
What space is available?
What station will be available?
These questions will be a great way to help guide you in the decision process. It can feel very overwhelming making these decisions, however, know there is a plan for you. Have faith in the process!
Feel free to message me anytime to process through the decision!
